CEREBELLUM

Commissioned by Cafe OTO, London in 2020 and performed in April 2021

CEREBELLUM at Cafe OTO is an inclusive series for learning through experimentation in movement and sound.

This work was initially planned to take place as a live touch-based workshop led by the artist in April 2020, where participants would follow movement tasks to develop new perceptual awarenesses of their bodies in motion and explore writing and sound as an extension of the physical body.

Due to lockdown measures, the project slowly transformed into a year-long collaboration between Peake and Evie Ward, Amy Dickson and Zara Joan Miller, artists working across movement, poetry, sound and film.

Together the artists came to re-explore touch through sound, drawing on the nature of the cerebellum (the part of the brain coordinating movement and balance), and the sound (bell) contained within it.

The project culminated in a live-streamed performance which is available for download here, and a clip is visible below.
